A valley in the Courts.

The Tenkou Courts are a group of five nations in the northern provinces that display a highly rigid social structure where the highest ranks are held by Spirits. The culture displayed here is slightly different from the rest of Solumaros as humans, instead of subjugating or consuming spirits for their powers, are considered lower then spirits and are subjugated to them. Humans are the lowest in order of social classes and even the highest of Humans are considered worse than the lowest of spirits.

The heart of this society is the Central Court. All of the sections of the Central Court are connected to the five nations, and are controlled by a Judge, each of whom is represented by a colour.

The people of each Court are not allowed into another nation's court, under penalty of death. Even the Central Court is divided by colours in sections, each judge only allowed to be present in their own section of the Heavenly Courtroom.

There is a ranking system to the Courts, Spirits residing on top, with humans scattered amongst the lower ranks as it descends.

  • Judges – Highest Rank. Only spirits may be part of this rank officially, but this stretches to include the houses of the Judges as well, i.e. servants, stewards, honor guard, etc.
  • Prefects – Rulers of the rings stretching outward from the center, treated as cities. The further you are from the center, the less important you are. Spirits hold this rank for the closest rings, humans may hold outer ring positions.
  • Raijun – Warrior class, mostly Spirits. Some humans may have been taken by a spirit, given a set of armor to bond with the Human and take control.
  • Sichen – Bureaucrats, lawmakers, nobility. About Half human/Spirit mix.
  • Haigun – merchants, craftsmen, skilled labor. Mostly Human, only class allowed to mix colors, as needed, to trade for commodities.
  • Folsein – Sefs, slaves, indentured servants. All human, excepting Spirit prisoners.

The idea of bonding or pacting with a human is repulsive to most spirits, who view humans as lesser beings. However, if a human gains favour, the spirit may choose him to gift him some of his power, or even, in cases of highest favour, use the human as a vessel to increase their power. But the human is most always lost to this as the spirit changes the human's mind.
